Fresh Foods Initiative
Inclusive Healthy Communities (IHC) Initiative Resources
Funded by the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDS)
Rowan University and the Get FIT Coalition partnered with Vetri Community Partnerships, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting good nutrition through cooking, to create one introductory video and four cooking demonstration modules, each featuring a different recipe, that are accessible to persons of all ability levels. These videos are available for free to anyone who wants to use them in an educational capacity to help people with disabilities develop cooking skills.
Group home staff and healthcare professionals may wish to use the series of PowerPoint presentations to learn to lead cooking classes for persons with disabilities. People with disabilities may want to follow the recipe preparation videos as they prepare the recipes on their own. (Use of these resources must be free of charge to all who use them and should acknowledge the NJ DDS as the funder and the Get FIT Coalition as the source.)
